Another story of a SURVIVOR !

A boy in his late twenties went on a trekking trip for the first time to the Himalayas, alongwith his best friend, who goaded him into joining this trip, shooing away his last minute jitters saying that if others can do it, why not you! The trekking, as expected, was tough and challenging. The trekkers scaled up the scary mountains, trekking for minimum eleven hours at a stretch to reach a height of 15000 ft. in 5 days, weathering biting cold, scorching heat and blizzards en route. A few trekkers dropped out of expedition midway out of sheer exhaustion! But this boy went on and on, soaking in the matchless beauty of snowclad mountains and the starry skies above, feighning all the while that the aching feet and swollen ankles were not his but belonged to someone else ! After successful completion of the trek, while recounting the trek experience, the boy told me that his best friend was awarded "best trekker" title,a well-deserved one. Then he added with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes that he himself was unofficially voted "BEST SURVIVOR OF THE TREK GROUP"! This fact led me down memory lane....yes, he has been the best survivor all along, since his birth, as he was born a premature baby, who had to spend his first six months in his mother's lap like a kangaroo as he was dangerously under-weight (he was the size of a palm at birth!). Then as destiny would have it, this boy was incessantly afflicted with many serious ailments, including jaundice, measles, infantile paralysis. rheumatic fever and typhoid. But he was a born fighter, courage never leaving his heart and smile not leaving his lips even for a second ! Of course he has been and will always be THE BEST SURVIVOR, of this i am sure! You may be wondering why i am so sure.....Yes, you have guessed it right ! I am the blessed mother of this Best Survivor! I am proud of you, MY SON !
